“There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer.” — Gen. James H. Doolittle

Help us to create impact.

Building Shelters. Buying Clothes. Scholarships. Veteran Support Services. There are many programs under development, and others being innovated. By donating you aren’t just helping us to grow, you’re helping a veteran make that doctor visit. A child to have good cleats for their soccer game, and many people without food or resources to find a new reason to smile.

The top 3 beneficiaries

Everyone needs a little help sometimes, and we are no different. Every dollar donated or spent at one of our locations benefits a variety of demographics. The top 3 are: Veterans, Abuse Survivors, Children.

Supporting Our Veterans

Whether it’s struggling with PTSD or service-related injuries, it’s not easy. To feel alone, afraid, or vulnerable is human.

Help us to create communities and resources for forgotten soldiers to feel remembered.

Supporting our Neighbors

People who come from abusive households, had traumatic childhoods, or just didn’t “make it”.

These people are important too, and we make sure they know it.

Supporting Our Children

School supplies are expensive, as well as sports equipment. College is around the corner to top it all off.

Help us to create an impact in our community by supporting the children in becoming the best version of themselves they can be.

Welcome to the shenandoah Valley.

Home to a rich collection of cultures and histories, this valley has come a long way from its Union roots.

Now The Shenandoah Valley is known for its multiculturally diverse landscape, diverse foods, and vineyards.

Even still, there are those that can’t afford the amazing things there are to do and explore.

Natural Chimneys Park and Campground

It’s hard to imagine, but The Shenandoah Valley was once the floor of a great inland sea. Centuries ago, as that sea receded, the forces of nature carefully etched out an awe-inspiring formation of solid rock. The Seven Natural Chimneys tower as much as 120 feet above the pastoral terrain of The Shenandoah Valley, offering onlookers a sight unrivaled in majesty.

Viewed from one angle, the formations resemble enormous chimneys standing in bleak contrast to the greenery of The Shenandoah Valley. Take a few steps, though, and the chimneys are transformed into the massive turrets of a foreboding medieval castle.

Natural Chimneys Park in Mt. Solon, Virginia offers more than simply the splendor of towering limestone formations. Both day visitors and those who choose to stay overnight in the seasonal campground find plenty of space and opportunities for recreation, relaxation and fellowship.  The park is open for day use from dawn to dusk, seven days a week.

Monticello

Thomas Jefferson has deep ties the The Shenandoah Valley. Honoring the author of The Declaration of Independence we present his most precious work. Welcome to The Monticello.

“All my wishes end, where I hope my days will end, at Monticello.” -1787

Its gardens were a botanic showpiece, a source of food, and an experimental laboratory of ornamental and useful plants from around the world.

This plantation saw over 400 slaves born and raised on its 5,000 acres. Touring through the mystery of The Shenandoah Valley, the descendants of these slaves are undeniably present.

Whiteoak Canyon Falls

An easier hike to the base of the beautiful cascades and lower falls in Whiteoak Canyon. Note that a Park entrance fee is still required.

James Madison University

One of the greatest universities in America is here, and if you didn’t know, James Madison University has deep roots in both the businesses of the area as well as The Veteran Community.

James Madison University provides support, mentorship, and services designed to help active-duty military personnel and veterans. The university aims to be a model of a veteran-friendly campus and a destination for veterans. It offers recruitment, enrollment, financial support, and graduation opportunities for veteran, dependent, and active military students.

Imagine how different the world would be had these silent gifts from the military been supported in understanding their identity. JMU Valor serves as a personal self-education resource for all military-connected students, faculty, and staff at James Madison University.

It is not a simple thing to trace the decisions of 1775 to a college campus nearly 250 years ago. Nor to the rich influence upon the culture of a region on the edge of an amazing transition into new heights of commercial expansion. The Shenandoah Valley is an amazing place to call home and raise a family.

Volunteers & Sponsors

If you are interested in becoming a part of our organization we are more than happy to welcome you! No matter race or background. It must be clear that volunteers are not a direct reflection of our beliefs or mission.

Our top priority is keeping The American Spirit alive for those who respect it. We are simply here to support elderly citizens, veterans, the homeless, and those who truly need our presence for the limited time we can provide it.

Welcome to La Familia

When you’re supporting our veterans you’re also supporting this valley. We are providing jobs and helping local businesses with a unique encouraging presence we’ve been graced to provide.

We are impacting homelessness and lack of opportunity on a local level, and bringing an audience of American Spirit to the background of new conversations and bustling commerce.

If you want to get involved, the first step is the form above followed by a confirming email to natalie.butler@sovwilco.org regarding your intentions. It will authorize verification of Veteran Status by the standard of SOV WILCO leadership, as well as include an NDA for your security.
